Insecurities are a challenge.
You get into your head. You shut down your thoughts. You become overtaken by what you think others think of you. You become someone you are not. You become self-conscious and develop habits that feed your negative thoughts.
I have been there. Insecurities consume many people.
Insecurities come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you are insecure about appearances or your decisions, there are ways to get through those negative thoughts.
I shut the world out because I thought everyone was always judging me because of my disability. People would ask what happened to me or what’s wrong and I would stutter some little response or pretend that I had not heard them. I began to build these walls up around myself, only letting certain people in. I was lonely and insecure about what I thought others thought of me. My insecurities led me to think that it wasn’t ok that I am different. Also, I tried to act like everyone else in attempt to blend in.
Insecurities Do Not Rule
It wasn’t until I realized that other people asked what was wrong because they were and still are curious. I realized that by living in my own little bubble I had missed out on all sorts of friendships and opportunities. I became less afraid of being different in my appearance and decisions.
I realized that I had the ability to get past my insecurities. And you can too, by…….
BEING YOURSELF! Don’t let your insecurities stop you. You are far more capable than you give yourself credit for. Being yourself gives you the strength to live without your insecurities overwhelming and controlling you.
Practice positive thoughts.
Look for blessings you Do have.
Surround yourself with authentic friends.
Be brave. Don’t be afraid of failure…it does not define you!
I want to challenge you not to be afraid to be yourself. Try to go out of your way to do or act upon something that you have not in the past due to insecurities.
Don’t forget you have the ability to dream!
